Vision
Challenges faced by Indonesian society is different to what happens in a few decades ago. Along with changes in society and the competition at the global level, bringing the UI was in the midst of swirling change not only locally but also internationally. What about the role and contribution of the UI in any changes will be largely determined by the significance of each activity undertaken UI to the public. And this will be very difficult to do without the support of strong research activity. Process and quality of research done by academic all UI needs to refer to international quality standards. In order for the resulting research will be able to have a significant impact. Therefore, the UI has set a vision contained in the Strategic Plan 2007-2012 as follows UI 'Becoming a World Class Research Universities'.
In line with the vision of the UI Department of Chemical Engineering University of Indonesia has a vision:
"Being a Department of Chemical Engineering is recognized as an educational and research institutions leading chemical technology in the world that is guided by national interests and the global community"
Mission
University of Indonesia is the only university in Indonesia using the name of the country legally and has a long history of formation. So it is not surprising that a university which has the UI's mission is not only limited to the internal environment but also the role and contributions to the development of countries, peoples and cultural development is urgently needed.
UI set to the University's mission in two ways:
* Carrying out research based higher education for the development of Science, Technology, Arts and Culture; and
* Organizing Higher Education who seek to use to improve the standard and quality of life of Indonesian society and humanity.
In implementations use 3 basic strategies UI development, namely:
1. integration of resource management, infrastructure and facilities,
2. education quality improvement / research-based teaching to achieve excellence (excellence) and
3. develop enterprising university.
In line with the mission of the University of Indonesia, the Department of Chemical Engineering University of Indonesia has a mission:
"Carry out undergraduate and postgraduate education of chemical engineering excellence to produce graduates who are qualified and immoral and to be able to develop themselves and to face global competition and local challenges, foster an academic atmosphere conducive to the development of basic and applied research, innovative, and participated in the settlement of the problem facing the nation and the world community. "
Goal
The purpose of education in the Department of Chemical Engineering is to produce quality graduates, which is capable of implementing the basic science of chemical engineering to work and work in the field of chemical process technologies and related sciences, to develop themselves as planners and industrial managers, and able to develop science and technology. The strategy is to equip graduates with the basic sciences, chemical engineering and applied softskills, as well as to encourage motivation to continuously develop themselves (life-long learning) based on increases in a broad horizon of knowledge (broad-based knowledge).
